Although gun ownership for the purpose of self defense is rarely permitted in Canada, this thread serves to provide examples where the popular AR15 sporting rifle platform was used for defense purposes.

Homeowner's son shoots, kills three would-be burglars using AR15. An example where a family used a semi-automatic AR15 rifle to gain a clear advantage over three dangerous burglars.

An Illinois man armed with an AR-15 rifle stopped an attack against his neighbor at his apartment complex Monday, WGN reported.

Houston Homeowner shoots at drive-by suspects, killing 2. Violent thugs shoot randomly during neighbourhood drive-by and a homeowner uses the advantage provided by his AR15 rifle to defend his neighbourhood against all three violent thugs. All three thugs are shot with the homeowner suffering no injuries.

Considering media bias, I have no doubt there are many more AR defense uses that go unreported.
